You will own the entire sales process, from identifying prospects and cold calling to closing deals to laying the groundwork for long, mutually satisfying relationships. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have a proven track record in B2B insurance sales, including bringing in new accounts, ideally in property and casualty (P&C). We're looking for a professional with outstanding relationship building skills and a demonstrated ability to consult with clients and develop solutions. You also will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong sense of ethics and integrity.

You will report to the Vice President of Sales. For the most part, you will pursue individual goals, but there also will be team-selling activities, and cross selling with specialists in other areas is always encouraged. In a nutshell, your mission will be to identify, pursue, and close new business in property & casualty, employee benefits, or both. You'll cover the greater Mobile, AL area as well as the Florida panhandle and southern Mississippi.

Pivotal to your success will be your ability to develop relationships with clients from the start, discovering their goals and challenges. In addition, you will need to foster strong working relationships with carriers. Your activities also will include:
  • Developing a business plan for your territory, in collaboration with your supervisor, and executing on it.
  • Sourcing leads; we'll provide you with some resources, but we'll also look to you to leverage your own contacts and be proactive and resourceful in finding new prospects.
  • Cold calling on leads, both in person and over the phone.
  • Reviewing potential clients' current coverage and identifying opportunities to improve on it.
  • Developing and delivering presentations.
  • Developing proposals and quotes.
  • Overcoming issues to close deals.
  • Collecting premiums.
  • Documenting and reporting on your activities.
